Where is her movement?

this is not really an apt comparison on a lot of levels.
from what i have observed from muslim organizations that rally around the cause of islamophobia in the united states, the majority of them take the approach of “well maybe if we educate Americans on what it means to be a muslim and how we’re normal like everyone else, then maybe people won’t hate us”, or “we’re not all terrorists, we’re not all like them” this approach has definitely sky rocketed in use after 9/11, and it has its benefits, but is definitely a more passive approach.
whereas African Americans have been saying for decades “you don’t have to understand us, you don’t even have to like us, but so long as we’re citizens of some capacity in this country we deserve the same rights and liberties as white people”. we’ve never really made our movement about getting white people to understand us as “normal”, but about acquiring the same liberties necessary to survive on a fair shake. we have a longer history of taking to the streets when one of our own is murdered because its been a continual factor in our existence since our people were “emancipated”.
if muslims in america want a movement, then we need to stop the hand holding methods and DEMAND to be treated equally. 9/11 is not an excuse to brutally murder people on the basis of faith, religiously profile people at airports, burn Qu’rans or wave the non-existent threat of an american run by Shari’a law over our heads. And Muslims need to stand up and say that much louder than “well we’re just like you so i don’t understand why you would want to kill us in the first place” or my favourite ”we’re not all terrrorists”.
why does “we’re not all terrorists” even have to be said. the more we treat people like they’re stupid and incapable of separating out a few individuals from a whole religion of people, the more we give Americans more license to never take us seriously. Americans may have a higher capacity for hate, but there is no reason to keep treating bigots like children.

Users of Tumblr! Of the whole Internet! My brothers. I see in your blogs the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of the Users fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Internet comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand!

The fact that people are saying Shane killed Otis for himself is hilarious. If it was for himself, he wouldn’t have grabbed the bag. & did you ever think that maybe he made the choice to sacrifice Otis so the walkers wouldn’t follow them to the farm? I mean more lives were at stake. All y’all need to stop being so judgmental, because I know good and well if Daryl had done it, 90% of you fan girls would take up for him.
